The following industry awards were received by Ross Halgren and his development
teams for their innovative products and support to Australian industry.
Award 1 - Institution of Engineers Australia Sydney Division award in 1987 to AWA Research Laboratory and AWA Defence & Transmission Division for the best new Product being the AWANET voice and data Local Area Network with first application being the Sydney Police Centre. Winning this award made AWANET eligible for entering the National Bicentennial Engineering Excellence Awards (1988) for which a High Commendation was received for the AWANET product.
Award 2 - AWA Award of "AWA Fellow" in 1994 to Ross Halgren in recognition of technical excellence and innovation throughout his 16 years of service at AWA.
Award 3 - Institution of Engineers Australia Sydney Division High Commendation award in 1996 to AWA Limited for the development of the AWANET-100 Multimedia Switch with the first applications being a video switch for a Telstra video-on-demand Pay-TV / ADSL trial and a voice & data switch for the TAAATS air traffic control system.
Award 4 - CommsWorld Telecomms Awards 2001sponsored by Marconi, with Ross Halgren - Chief Engineer of Redfern Broadband Networks receiving the Sir Ernest Fisk Award for his contribution to the Telecommunications Industry. In 1911, Ernest Fisk chose to settle permanently in Australia, as a representative of the Marconi Company. He subsequently founded AWA Limited in 1913. His grandson Jon Fisk presented the award - which was an additional honour for Ross given the 19 years that he had spent at AWA. Award 5 - Institution of Engineers Australia Sydney Division award in 2002 to Redfern Broadband Networks for the best new Product being the RBNi 8200 Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer. Winning this award made the RBNi 8200 product eligible for entering the National Engineering Excellence Awards and the AusIndustry Innovation Award.
Award 6 - Australian Engineering Excellence Awards 2002 in Canberra, where Redfern Broadband Networks was announced as the winner of the AusIndustry Innovation Award for the RBNi 8200 Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer.

7 - Supercomm 2004 Atlanta USA where Redfern Broadband Networks
was awarded the prestigious 7th Annual SUPERQuest Award for the best new optical
networking product - being the RBNi
GigaEdge 2300. RBN was up against many US and international companies
in the running for this award.
